“Catching Fire” Is Catching On

What’s with all of the hype around the Twilight saga? Really now? Even though the books had that soap opera flair and dramatic intensity, they were written somewhat poorly, with many grammatical errors and don’t even get me started on what I thought about the movie…

However my faith in YA (Young Adult) book was restored when I read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, author of the well-known top selling kids’ series, Gregor. Unlike Twilight which even though features romance, action, death and drama, The Hunger Games provides readers with an intriguing plot and a heroine that girls and women aren’t embarrassed by. While the book does involve a love subplot, it is certainly not overshadowed by the action and drama that takes place.

On September 1, 2009, Collins’ second book in The Hunger Games trilogy will be released. Catching Fire is already gaining rave reviews among many critics. MSN also recently featured the sequel as one of the top book to read this year.

The popular series has also received attention from the film industry. The first book in the series, The Hunger Games, is slated to be released in theaters some time in 2011. There is still not work yet on who will be starring in the film, but fans of the series are already counting the days until the movie’s release.
