for the nyc femme: beba blue salon

It’s another gray day in New York City and the humidity in the air is starting to make my hair frizzy. As I walk into Beba Blue Salon, I am warmly greeted by owner, Liljana Ndreu, who smiles from ear to ear and says: “Helloooo,” in a Greek accent. I know she wants to get her hands in my frizzy mane, but today I’m not in to get anything done, but to ask her why, of all places, she decided to open a salon in Hell’s Kitchen—an area known for asbestos-infected buildings and super loud streets. We had to pause our interview a couple of times because I couldn’t hear the soft-spoken Ndreu.

Ndreu moved her hair salon a little more than a year ago from Central Park South (she was located at 6th Ave. and 59th St.). She moved in order to target younger clientele. “It’s great to be here in this neighborhood,” she said. “We have very lovely customers. Our specialty is young women.” Beba Blue also specializes in color and Brazilian keratin treatments. Go online and see the reviews for yourself!

Beba Blue likes to cater to the needs of their customers.  “We try to keep it high end,” said Ndreu. Besides the hair services, BB does manis and pedis, massage, waxing, facials and makeup. Did I mention that they have an in-house café? The salon also has their own line of high-quality, sulfate-free products. “People love [them]” said Ndreu. They just made a commercial that will air this summer, a commercial Ndreu describes as “very cute.”

“Our goal is to bring out the best in this neighborhood,” said Ndreu. “Whatever it takes, from the coffee to the salon.”

If you come in before June 30 and mention you saw this post on Mauvais Langue you’ll get 10% off any service!
