How much are you willing to pay to be a senator?

Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff, John Harris, were arrested today by FBI agents for allegedly attempting to sell Barack Obama’s newly vacant Senate seat.

Come on people. How dumb can you get?

Firstly, let’s consider the fact that this was a dumb idea because of all the people “bidding” to get the seat would eventually sell you out when they “lose” the bid.

Then even if by some fluke of nature, everyone goes their way quietly when they lose, you still have to account for the money you get unless you’re going to hide it under your mattress.

Blagojevich is accused of a wide-ranging criminal conspiracy, including alleged attempts by the governor to try to sell or trade the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama in exchange for financial benefits for the governor and his wife. Blagojevich also is accused of obtaining campaign contributions in exchange for other official actions.
