NY Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Mik Cire by Eric Kim Fall-Winter 2011 Collection Review

I fell in love with Eric Kim when I first saw his Monarchy line two seasons ago. Never ceasing to stop updating his styles fit for the Renaissance Man, Kim’s evolution was perfectly represented in the Mik Cire Fall-Winter 2011 Collection.
It’s so refreshing to see that the current military-inspired motif in sportswear is not only transitioning into the spring, but is swinging right into the cool days of next fall and winter. Kim’s menswear collection was full of luxurious cashmere, hipster flannel and city chic motorcycle jackets. An extra kick of edge by way of asymmetrical zippers, hexagon stud details on the shoulders of tailored leather jackets and pops of ox blood in the sea of gray, black and white designs held the rapt attention of the attendees. Particularly notable was Kim’s zesty combination of classics paired with modern stylish niceties, such as wool trousers with lace-up knee high combat boots. Attention! At ease, fashionisto and jot down the key notes below to “Mikinize” your wardrobe.

Key notes:
• Ribbed knit cardigans
• Blazers with movement
• Asymmetrical zippers on moto jackets
• The return of the combat boots
