Queen Latifah: Out and Proud Lesbian?

Should we be surprised?  Queen Latifah, the most formidable lady on the rap scene, may be engaging in the “coming out” process.  Good for her!  It is not like we didn’t already know anyway…

For the second week in a row, she was spotted at Eden, one of the most popular lesbian parties in New York City.  She showed up with an entourage of “five stunning women” and ordered bottle service the entire night.

According to an inside source who frequents the hotspot regularly, the Queen “was dressed down in a T-shirt and jeans with a comfortable pony tail.  She looked laid back and chatty, and kept talking to the cats at the DJ booth.”

People have speculated about Queen Latifah’s sexual orientation since she first appeared on the scene.  She is one of the only supposedly “straight” women in Hollywood who has never been caught with a “male friend” by the paparazzi.  In a New York Times interview last year, Latifah said, “I don’t care if people think I’m gay or not.”

Obviously, it is no easy task to come out of the closet when in the public eye.  But if Ellen can do it, so can she.

Remember the Queen’s convincing performance as a butch lesbian in Set it Off?  Maybe she wasn’t “acting” after all…
