Review: Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara

The pièce de résistance of drugstore waterproof mascaras has captured my heart. The Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara definitely provides the length and the plump without the clump. I got my first tube for free, coincidentally, but after trying it out I would have willingly shelled out the full price for the magical lash blast.

lashblast-mascaraThe volumizing brush with its thick barrel and short rubber bristles thoroughly coats and  thickens your lashes, however there is one flaw in the brush design; the tip of the brush should have been tapered to assist with reaching the shorter inner lashes as well as the finer bottom lashes. For those who find the brush uncomfortable to use or think it may cause a mess, wipe off the excess product from the wand before applying, this makes it much easier for those who aren’t avid mascara users.

I love that the black mascara is jet black and you can layer it for a high impact. It separates and holds the curl of the lashes and it also lasts for hours so at the end of the day you don’t have to deal with “raccoon eyes”.  People take notice of my eyes and always ask “Are those your real lashes?” I relish the attention but modestly reply with a smile, “yes of course”.

The wand is separate from the tube; this is great for makeup artists who place emphasis on keeping their products sanitary, because now the possibility of them replacing a used wand into the mascara tube is reduced.  For the non makeup professionals, you too should try to keep your mascara hygienic by throwing it out after about three to six months of use, or if you recognize any change in smell and consistency. Do not use it if you have an eye infection as this can contaminate the entire tube. Sharing mascaras is also a no-no, as passing on an eye infection is even worse.

Some may say that the CG Lash Blast can be a little difficult to remove, but using a specific eye makeup remover makes it very simple. My personal favorite is the Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover. Simply moisten a cotton ball with the product and hold it against your lashes for a few seconds, this will loosen up the mascara. Then gently wipe with a downward motion, you may need to repeat but this is a surefire way to remove all traces of the mascara. Keep in mind that the skin around your eyes is very delicate so please treat it gently.

I think Cover Girl has hit a home run on its Lash Blast and I’m always ready to recommend this mascara in the bright orange tube to all of my friends.
