World of Warcraft coming to the big screen
Blizzard Entertainment announced that they have tagged “Drag me to Hell” , “The Grudge” and “30 Days of Night” director Sam Raimi, to direct the World of Warcraft movie based on the insanely popular game.
According to Paul Sams of Blizzard “Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures have a shared vision for this film and we searched at length to find the very best director to bring that vision to life,” he says. “From our first conversation with Sam, we could tell he was the perfect choice.”
As a W.O.W. fan myself i am on the fence about the proposal of a movie. Just as with Stephen King books, most game movies just don’t gel when exported to the big screen. Resident Evil might be a small exception, but then again, the R.E. movie team didn’t even use a main character from the game as the main character in the movie. I will wait to pass judgment until i start seeing trailers and eventual see the movie itself. You never know, Sam might just be the guy to take the bull by the horns and make this work.
